NAME OF PROJECT: Paynesville Feeding Centre
DURATION OF FMP FUNDING: 2006 - 2008
SUMMARY OF THIS PROJECT: Between 2006 and 2008, FMP assisted the school feeding programme in Paynesville.
KEY BENEFICIARIES OF PROJECT: 108 students (from nursery to 6th grade), and their families
GOAL OF PROJECT: To provide a hot nutritious meal to all students, once a day, 5 days a week, at Paynesville School.
KEY ACTIVITIES OF THIS PROJECT: FMP assisted in providing food, cooking utensils and all necessary equipment, to ensure feeding centre staff gave pupils hot and nutritious meals. The feeding centre employed cooks and well qualified nutrition staff, to prepare the food.
IMPACT OF PROJECT: The Feeding Centre helped to keep the children in school. The children were extremely happy to receive their good portion of rice, meat/fish and sauce, in the middle of a school day.
QUOTES FROM PEOPLE AT THE PROJECT: “We get food every day at lunchtime. It is sometimes rice or fish or spare ribs. It is very good.” (Pupil, 6th grade).
